आज मां ने मुझे बाज़ार सब्जी लाने के लिए भेजा। बारिश का मौसम था और वर्षा हो रही थी सो मै पैदल ही चल पड़ी। चलते चलते मैं आसमान की ओर बड़े ही उत्सुकता पूर्वक देखने लगी और सोचने लगी कि ये बादल और उनके पार की दुनिया कितनी अच्छी और खूबसूरत होती होगी। तभी अचानक से बादल का एक टुकड़ा सीधा मेरी तरफ आया और मुझे अपने ऊपर बैठा कर उड़ चला आसमान की ओर। मेरी खुशी का तो ठिकाना ही नहीं रहा। बादल और उस पर बैठी मैं तीव्र गति से यहां – वहां उछल कूद कर मस्ती करने लगे। मैंने बादल से पूछा – “तुम्हारा नाम क्या है दोस्त”? तो वो बोला – “मेरा नाम मटकू है। और तुम्हारा नाम क्या है? तो मैंने बोला मेरा नाम अवनी है। फिर हम दोनों उड़ चले। रास्ते में मिली हवा रानी। उसने बादल से पूछा – “और मटकू कहां चले”? मटकू ने कहा – “अवनि संग सैर पर चले”।आपको बताऊं मैंने आसमान में क्या क्या देखा! गाते हुए पक्षियों कि टोली, खुले नीले आसमान पर केनवास पर उभरे हुए चित्र की तरह आकृतियां, और प्रथ्वी के सारे खूबसूरत जंगल।

आगे की ओर जाने पर गरजता बरसता कालू बादल मिला और मिले बारिश में भीगे झूमते नाचते पेड़ पौधे, मिट्टी की सौंधी खुशबू ये सब देख मुझे इतना मजा आया, इतना मज़ा आया कि मुझे पता ही नहीं चला कि कब सब्ज़ी मंडी आ गई। मै, बादल और हवा रानी अब अच्छे दोस्त बन चुके थे। मैंने जैसे ही उन दोनों को अलविदा कहा वो दोनो मेरी आंखो के सामने से ओझल हो गए क्योंकि मां के जगाने पर मेरी आंख खुल गई थी।
